Grupo Popular, a family member of HN Group Limited, is the only integrated provider of medical and health care products and services in Macau. Grupo Popular encompasses retail and wholesale of pharmaceuticals, medical, health and personal care products in addition to the provision of medical services.

Grupo Popular’s embryo can be dated back to 1895 when the first-ever pharmacy named ‘Farmacia Popular’ was opened up at the symbolic Leal do Senado in Macau. Started out as a private family business owned by the eminent H Nolasco & Cia Lda in Macau.

A sizeable surge in the demand for pharmaceutical products and medical services arose during late 1980s, which was when Grupo Popular came into being. Grupo Popular opened the first Farmacia Popular branch store and started up the first-ever integrated medical and diagnostic center ‘Centro Medico Diagnostico Popular’ in Macau in 1990.

A year later, Firma Popular, an agency/distributor firm, was formed to perfect Grupo Popular’s integration framework.

Since then, Grupo Popular began to grow at a steady pace. Two more branch stores of Farmacia Popular and one more branch center of Centro Medico Diagnostico Popular were created in the second half of the 1990s. The growth of Grupo Popular accelerated to an even higher level after one year into the 21st century, since when eight more branch stores of Farmacia Popular have come on the scene, and the scale and scope of Centro Medico Diagnostico Popular and Firma Popular have been expanded at a careful rate.

Nowadays, Grupo Popular’s umbrella is comprised of three business units namely “Farmacia Popular”, “Firma Popular” and “Centro Medico Diagnostico Popular” which currently amount to 11 pharmacies, 2 professional beauty centres (Wellness), 1 agency/distributor firm and 2 clinics respectively.
